Definitions:

CAD: Computer Aided Design

Revit: A suite of CAD software designed for architects.

Inventor: A suite of CAD software designed for product design and mechanical engineers.

3Ds Max: A suite of CAD software designed for animation and rendering.

BIM: Building Information Modelling. A type of design software that allows to you place down
complete objects such as walls that already have information built in. In normal modelling software, you would have to draw every line of a wall or door right in the program, but with BIM you can simple place in a wall that already has what you need built in.
